OnePlus 13 might support iPhone-like MagSafe wireless charging

OnePlus is gearing up to hold a launch event in October in China to unveil its new smartphone, the OnePlus 13, which is set to pack a huge 6000mAh battery and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset with several other upgrades. 

While customers eagerly anticipate the smartphone, a new leak surfaced on social media, letting them catch a glimpse of a prediction indicating that OnePlus might come with iPhone-like MagSafe wireless charging capability.

OnePlus 13 getting MagSafe-like wireless charging

Apple has been offering MagSafe technology since the iPhone 12. The tech giant introduced the Qi2 standard with magnetic charging last year, adding improved device functionality. 

While Android phones are yet to introduce both the MagSafe and Qi2 technologies, the OnePlus 13 might finally change this, becoming the first Android phone with this capability. 

Taking to Weibo, OnePlus China president Kinder Liu revealed a new “magnetic function” within the upcoming flagship, suggesting that the OnePlus 13 might support Qi2 or come with a MagSafe–like magnetic charging. 

If true, OnePlus users will enter into this magnetic charging ecosystem with more charging options as well accessories such as power banks, car mounts, and wallet cases, providing a more integrated user experience, similar to Apple’s MagSafe. 

Liu also confirmed that the company is not planning on offering bamboo cases for its next flagship phone. 

However, Oppo, another Android smartphone brand is also adding magnetic charging to its upcoming Find X8 series.

Alongside these upgrades, the OnePlus 13 is also expected to sport a curved 2K LTPO display and a triple 50MP rear camera setup. It is also anticipated to support 100W fast wired charging and 50W magnetic wireless charging.
