In line with global telecommunication standards, Pakistan is gearing up to embrace the rollout of 5G, the 5th-generation mobile network technology, which is believed to boost the digital economy and innovation in the country.

The remarks were made by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Hafeez ur Rehman while speaking at a four-day Masterclass on “5G and Beyond: Shaping the Future of Connectivity.”

Compared to 4G, 5G provides faster data speeds and lower latency. The launch of 5G in Pakistan is a testament to the country’s commitment to fostering unhindered connectivity, Business Recorder reported.

Master class on 5G and Beyond: Shaping the Future of Connectivity

The masterclass, “5G and Beyond: Shaping the Future of Connectivity,” was conducted by the PTA and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in Islamabad, running through February 17 to 20. It brought together over 60 industry leaders, policymakers, and academics.

The primary focus of the event on the next-gen mobile technology reflected on the 5G deployment strategies, spectrum management, and emerging applications.

It must be noted that the organisation of the masterclass on 5G reinforced the Letter of Cooperation (LoC) signed between PTA and MCMC on October 3, 2024, in the presence of the prime ministers of Pakistan and Malaysia.
