In order to provide Pakistan's youth with cutting-edge, globally competitive capabilities, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday announced that a chosen group of students will be sent to Europe and China for artificial intelligence (AI) training.
The announcement was made during the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025 distribution event at the University of Haripur.
PM stressed during the occasion that students from all over Pakistan, including Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, will be chosen only based on merit.
The prime minister declared that delegations from every province would travel to China to receive training in artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technology.
"Now that the economy has recovered from the verge of default, it is time to accelerate growth. Our young people must take the lead in this endeavour since it will call for contemporary abilities," he stated.
The ambitious 2025 goal for Pakistan's youth and the government's efforts to empower them via education and technology were featured during the event in a special documentary that showcased the programme's progress since 2013.
Sharif emphasised the significance of giving young people chances based on their potential to achieve international prominence.
"I firmly believe that Pakistan's progress is not dependent on any one province, whether it is the laptops, the 1000 students taught in agriculture, or even the 600 students I sent to China during my stint as chief minister of Punjab. Holistic development is key," he noted.
He also announced the construction of a Haripur Bridge to link educational institutions, a Daanish School in Haripur, and a women's campus at Haripur University.
