As the Elon Musk-led Starlink struggles to sail through the complex web of registration in Pakistan, it emerged on Thursday that some companies in the country are already equipped with satellite-based internet connection.
While those in authority warned against accessing Starlink internet services from backchannels, the longstanding internet disruptions, coupled with restricted social media access, proved nerve-wracking for internet users countrywide, compelling them to opt for such strong, promising solutions in covert ways.
Although Starlink has not yet been granted the license to operate in the country, an IT company leveraging Starlink internet services noted that it was doing so to get rid of restricted and sluggish internet speed and get access to reliable and uninterrupted connection, Nukta cited an insider on the condition of anonymity.
The official also added that the primary reason which prompted them to use Starlink services was the need to consistently remain in touch with their overseas clients.
"The rates are very high compared to local ones, but we have the confidence of smooth business operations, as the speed of internet at Starlink is satisfactory for us," he added.
To the delight of those eagerly awaiting Starlink to be officially available in the country, it was also learned that talks between the ministry of IT and telecommication and the global, satellite-assisted internet provider are progressing.
