
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released its data, showing a significant increase in cellular subscribers, as well as 3G and 4G users nationwide.
According to PTA, the number of Pakistan’s cellular network users increased from 193.098 million by the end of August 2024 to 193.346 million by September’s end.
The data also revealed that the number of 3G and 4G users in the country saw an increase, growing from 137.920 million to 138.731 million by the end of September.

However, the penetration of Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) also witnessed a slight increase, rising from 56.72% at the end of August to 56.96% as of September 2024.
To be noted, the cellular teledensity, the number of connections for every 100 people in a country, remained the same at 79% as of September's end.
Pakistan's telecom subscription shift
According to the telecommunication authority, Jazz’s 3G network declined from 2.718 million by the end of August to 2.443 million by the September end. Whereas, 4G users increased from 48.843 million to 49.418 million by the end of September.
Zong 3G network faced a decrease from 1.932 million as of the end of August to 1.912 million in September, while the number of 4G users increased from 37.627 million to 37.869 million by the end of September.
As of Telenor, the 3G subscribers decreased from 1.519 million by the end of August to 1.481 million by September’s end; however, the number of 4G users increased from 25.189 million to 25.399 million by the end of September.
Notably, Ufone, one of the leading mobile operators, saw a decline in 3G users, going from 2.167 million in August to 2.143 million in September. However, the number of 4G users of Ufone increased from 16.243 million to 16.368 million by the end of last month.
