State Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Saturday notified that the issue of Internet service being affected by the malfunction in the international submarine cable Asia-Africa-Europe-1 (AAE-1) fault, 1000 gigabytes per second data traffic affected.

People across Pakistan have experienced internet outages, along with serious interruptions in online connectivity, which adversely impacted their various tasks.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in its earlier statement, emphasised the urgent requirement for upgraded infrastructure to enhance internet speeds.

"630 gigabytes per second of traffic has been shifted to an alternative route," Khawaja stated. "Additionally, 200 gigabytes per second of traffic will be shifted to an alternate route soon."

On the other hand, the PTA on Saturday notified that ad hoc bandwidth had been arranged and added to the system to address the degradation of internet services due to a fault in the Asia-Africa-Europe-1 (AAE-1) submarine cable on January 2, 2025.

Notably, now there will be no degradation of internet services across Pakistan, and users can easily perform their tasks, as there will be a stable connection.
