Perplexity has officially launched its AI-centric 'Comet' browser for Android users, as it features an AI-powered search engine, initially introduced on desktop.
The San Francisco-based AI search company said that you can easily use Perplexity as a default search engine, and you can also mention tabs to ask queries to the AI assistant.
Moreover, you can use voice mode to ask your queries about all the open tabs, and the AI assistant can summarise searches across all tabs. The 'Comet' AI browser can research and shop on your behalf as well, and you can see what action the Comet assistant is taking.
It should be noted that the 'Comet' AI browser for Android has a built-in ad blocker to give you an ad-free experience without any disruption.
"Android has been a priority because of the volume of carriers and OEMs that have asked the startup to include Comet on their devices and solutions.
"Comet also remembers your open tabs and what you’re working on, so it can give quick answers that fit what you’re doing. Ask questions or get summaries right on any webpage. You don’t have to leave the page or switch apps, just tap and get what you want," said Perplexity.
The company plans to add more new features to the AI browser, including a conversational agent that can search across sites and take actions, creating shortcuts for the assistants to take quick actions, and a fully functional password manager in the near future.
