Samsung Galaxy A55 receives January 2025 security patch

Samsung has rolled out the January 2025 security patch for the Galaxy A55, aimed at enhancing protection and fixing issues in the current firmware. This update addresses problems in both the Google and One user interface (UI) systems. 

The patch is now available for Samsung A55 users in various global markets, including Asia, Mexico, Panama, and the Middle East, specifically targeting the SM-A556E version of the phone.

Samsung Galaxy A55 January 2025 security patch

The January 2025 security patch includes five critical fixes from Google to resolve vulnerabilities in the core Android system. In total, there are 29 fixes for issues ranging from minor to significant weak points in the Galaxy A55. 

Additionally, the update provides 22 fixes for Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items, some of which are critical threats. This ensures that users' devices are better protected against potential code execution and privacy breaches.

How to check for Samsung Galaxy A55 January 2025 security patch?

Samsung A55 users in regions like Asia and Pakistan may have already received an alert for the January 2025 patch. To check for updates, users should navigate to Settings >> Software Updates, where they can download and install the new firmware "A556EXXS6AYA5." Once the update is downloaded, users must reboot their phones to complete the installation.

Although this update focuses on security enhancements, it does not include new features or quality-of-life improvements. Samsung may be reserving these updates for the future One UI 7 release, coinciding with the launch of Android 15. 

The Galaxy A55, the successor to the A54, is currently Samsung's most expensive midrange phone and is expected to receive the One UI 7 update on priority.
