With the release of the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S25 range of devices at Galaxy Unpacked today, Samsung has announced that Gemini now works seamlessly across several apps on the recently launched S25 series and will be set as the default assistant.

A key highlight is Gemini’s ability to chain actions together. Google’s AI assistant can now complete multi-app tasks with a single prompt — for example, browsing a restaurant’s details and sharing them with a friend using Gemini commands.

This significant upgrade isn’t exclusive to the Galaxy S25 series. It functions efficiently across Samsung and Google apps, showcasing the platform’s broad usability. It’s part of a larger wave of AI updates announced by Alphabet-owned Google today.

Chaining ability and compatibility

The chaining ability is already integrated into all devices that support Gemini, depending on the availability of extensions. Extensions enable specific apps to connect to Gemini, but they require development by app creators to be included.

All leading Google apps already have extensions for Gemini. However, Gemini also supports Samsung-specific apps, including Samsung Reminder, Samsung Calendar, Samsung Notes, and Samsung Clock.

Google Gemini gets multimodal capabilities

With these advancements, Google Gemini aims to deliver a top-notch and more intuitive experience, providing personalised experiences with multimodal capabilities, tailored to user’s personalised requirements. By incorporating Gemini as the default assistant on the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, Google aims to strengthen its AI ecosystem while catering to Samsung’s flagship devices.
