Sazgar Pakistan is gearing up to begin local assembly of three models from Great Wall Motors (GWM), which include the Tank 500, Poer Canon, and Poer Canon Alpha, with the Tank 500 expected to launch soon.
The Tank 500 will be launched in two powertrains — Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) — and the Poer Canon series in PHEV. The locally assembled units of Tank 500 will start by March 2026, with the Canon series later in the near future.
The Tank 500 HEV is set to be available in a seven-seater configuration, while the PHEV variant will be available in a five-seater configuration.
Sazgar Pakistan Chief Operating Officer (COO) Ali Hameed stated that the Poer Canon come in a diesel versions in China, but it will not be available in diesel version in Pakistan. The Canon is considered one of the best-selling double-cabin pickup trucks in China.
Tank 500 price in Pakistan (expected)
Hameed stated that the locally assembled Tank 500 with an HEV powertrain will be significantly affordable, with an expected price around Rs2.5 crore. Considering the size and advanced features of the Tank 500, this expected price is competitive for the segment.
It should be noted that Sazgar Pakistan is also planning to expand its manufacturing capabilities to meet the rising demand for these locally assembled models in the near future. Hameed noted that the expansion will be completed by January 2026, enhancing the company's production capacity and efficiency.
