The Sindh government officially announced on Tuesday the distribution of pink electric scooters to female commuters this week, providing a comfortable commute.

During a high-level meeting, chaired by Sindh Minister of Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon, the decision was taken in a bid to provide safe, dignified and cost-effective transport for female commuters across the province.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Transport, the Managing Director of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority, and other senior officials.

Memon stated that the Sindh government was going ahead with its "Pink Scooties Project" to provide free electric scooters to women and female students this week.

By distributing pink electric scooters, the provincial government aims to save women’s travel time, cut down commuting expenses, and give them access to a safer, more dignified mode of transportation.

Notably, the data and records of women and female students who had applied for the scheme had already been compiled through the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA).

The transport minister noted that the pink scooters would be allocated based on merit and need, under a transparent mechanism designed to ensure fairness.

He encouraged both students and working women to fully benefit from the pink electric scooter facility once the distribution begins.

On the other hand, the minister announced plans to launch double-decker buses and electric vehicles (EVs) into the city’s public transport fleet, marking a push towards a more modern and environmentally sustainable system.

In addition to these new vehicles, infrastructure is being developed to support cyclists and pedestrians, with dedicated tracks being built to advance urban mobility for all residents.
