In a move that has taken the landscape of electric vehicles (EVs) by surprise, Tesla has made its fastest Cybertruck, the highest-end model known as the Cyberbeast, $15,000 costlier in the US.

With the price of the Cyberbeast rising overnight with no indication given by the Elon Musk-owned EV maker, the new price of the fastest Cybertruck offers buyers the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) driver assistance suite.

The usual cost of Tesla's supervised Full Self-Driving feature is $8,000, which comes with unlimited Supercharging, a four-year premium service pack, and premium connectivity, Reuters reported.

These features come bundled in a mandatory “Luxe Package,” which is exclusive to the Cyberbeast, and raises its price to $117,235.

The irony is that the price of Cyberbeast will remain $117,235 even if buyers would opt out of the additional features.

With this new pricing, the Cyberbeast is nearly as expensive as the quad-motor Rivian R1T, which boasts 1,205 horsepower compared to the Cyberbeast’s 845 horsepower, and a faster acceleration time of 2.5 seconds to reach 60 mph.

This price hike comes amid Cybertruck's continuously drowning sales, as it sold only 4,306 units in last year's last quarter.

The Cybertruck maker also struck the Model S and Model X with similar price hikes, which has raised concerns about the company’s sales strategy for its higher-end vehicles.
