
Caller ID platform Truecaller has partnered with HDFC Ergo, an insurance company, to introduce an insurance protection plan for the Indian market.
In a newsroom post, the company announced: "Truecaller is today announcing the launch of Truecaller Fraud Insurance. The product is offered to premium subscribers and will initially be launched in India for iOS and Android users."
Truecaller Insurance Protection Plan details
The service is available exclusively to premium subscribers who have signed up for the annual plan. The initiative aims to protect users from insurance fraud, offering coverage of up to INR 10,000. Activation is simple and can be done within the app by opting in.
However, important details such as the specific circumstances under which the insurance can be claimed and the evidence required from the customer are not yet provided.
The company also emphasised that subscribers on specific plans will receive Truecaller Fraud Insurance at no extra cost. Additionally, Truecaller Family subscribers have the option to extend this protection to all their family members.
Currently, the plan is exclusively available in India, though there is potential for expansion in the future.
