WhatsApp is working on a feature that users have wanted for years. Recent rumours reveal that the company is working on the “Save as draft” feature for status updates, making it way more convenient for people to take up where they left off, even if they get interrupted.

Reportedly, WhatsApp v2.25.36.6 includes the code for this feature. This feature will save a half-finished status created by users if they try to exit the status-creation screen.

A pop-up window will appear on the screen with options like Save as draft, Discard, or Continue editing. Afterwards, the saved draft will automatically appear the next time the user opens the status creation window.

This small but meaningful update addresses one of the biggest frustrations in WhatsApp status editing. To date, if a user closes the editor, all progress is lost. Instagram has long offered a drafts feature, and WhatsApp's finally catching up.

WhatsApp also prepares a special animated "2026" sticker for Layout statuses. The sticker appears while adding several images in a grid and is customisable in green, red, or purple. Since the feature is time-limited, it should roll out very soon.

Both the draft option and the 2026 sticker are in development but not yet visible to end-users. However, with WhatsApp expanding creative tools for its status feature, Pakistani users can expect a more flexible and smoother experience in the coming weeks.
