WhatsApp, the Meta-owned messaging app, is regarded as one of the best apps for safe and secure communication offering new features to enhance user experience.

Currently, WhatsApp is testing a new feature for its Android users that will allow them to react to messages faster by simply double-tapping them which may bring up a default emoji.

According to WABetaInfo, the feature was spotted in WhatsApp for Android beta app version 2.24.16.7 suggesting that a default ‘heart emoji' will appear when a user reacts to a message, similar to the feature present in other Meta platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.

In this way, the feature will make the process of reacting to messages quicker compared to the one wherein users need to tap and hold onto a message to select the "heart" emoji. This way users will have to simply double-tap to achieve the same result in much less time.

This double-tap message reaction feature is still in the development process and therefore, it is available to beta testers only. Users enrolled in the Google Play Beta programme may have access to this new functionality.

Apart from this feature, WhatsApp is also working on other features such as live transcription of voice messages, real-time translation of messages and a feature that helps to transfer files without needing an active Internet connection.
