Xiaomi, the Chinese tech manufacturer, was recently under the spotlight due to rumours about a new bloatware option in its upcoming phones that would enable users to toggle ads off. However, Xiaomi has now denied these rumours and announced a significant update instead.

Many phones come with bloatware, meaning they have pre-installed apps, so users don't have to install them manually. This reduces the phone's price as the ads cover part of the cost.

Xiaomi denied the rumours in a statement to Android Authority, stating that such a feature would not be arriving on Xiaomi phones. The company further added that it is planning to “re-optimise” its entire business strategy, which will benefit all users.

Xiaomi’s official told Android Authority: “We are re-optimising our business strategy in this regard to improve the user experience by reducing pre-installed apps and content display entry pages. Users should see these results quite soon in our upcoming flagships. However, our philosophy is to make changes that are easily accessible and beneficial to all our users, so we aren’t currently planning to add a toggle that realistically, only a small number of users would discover and use.”
