YouTube, the most popular video-sharing platform, is updating its cast menu for Android and iOS devices. The new design is similar to the one introduced in Music.
When you tap the Cast icon, a floating menu appears at the bottom of the screen, showing nearby devices. Once you start playing content, the menu changes to show thumbnails, voice search, and remote control buttons.
However, users have noticed that the "Disconnect" button is missing while using YouTube. Previously, this button allowed you to pause a cast session and stop playback on your phone with one click. Now, you need to tap "This Phone" to transfer playback to your device and then pause it, making it a two-step process.

Consumers took to social media to express their frustration. Many people ask YouTube to return the disconnect button, which they find more convenient. Others suggest alternative solutions, such as using Android Switcher or the Google Home app to disconnect from cast devices.
The YouTube Music team listened to user feedback and added an overflow menu with a "Disconnect from TV" option. However, it just disconnects your phone and continues playback on the speakers.
The uploaded cast menu for YouTube is not yet widely available but is expected to launch soon. Users can still use the Google Home app or Android Media Switcher to disconnect their Cast devices.
