YouTube is reportedly testing a new feature, which will tackle the frustration users often face with algorithm-driven recommendations that sometimes miss the mark.
The video-sharing platform's algorithm has been reported to frequently misjudge user intentions. For instance, watching a few Disney videos could lead the platform to presume you’re a loyal fan, resulting in an overwhelming amount of similar content — even if that isn’t what you truly want.
Select users will be able to see 'Your Custom Feed' next to the standard 'Home' button on the YouTube homepage. Clicking on it allows you to input prompts tailored to your interests.
It should be noted that the feature is in the trial phase and only accessible to select users, so if you instantly rush to the platform, you might not be able to find the 'Your Custom Feed' option yet.
It's still under wraps how the feature will be, but the ability to customise a YouTube feed would be a potential game-changer.
YouTube has yet to officially announce the details of the feature, along with the launch to a wider audience.
