Amazon’s next-generation Alexa update, designed to bring smarter artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, might not arrive as soon as expected. Several rumours are surfacing suggesting that the software upgrade could be delayed until March 31 due to testing challenges.

The AI-powered assistant is reportedly struggling with accuracy, leading Amazon to take extra time to fine-tune its responses.

Amazon’s next-gen Alexa update

Amazon had initially planned to roll out the new Alexa update earlier in 2024, but it seems the upgrade still needs improvements.

The company is holding a hardware event on February 26, where some expect an official announcement about Alexa’s future. However, if the latest reports are accurate, users may have to wait another month before getting access to the upgraded assistant.

AI-powered voice assistants like Alexa, ChatGPT, and Google Gemini are evolving fast, but they also face challenges. Amazon has been working on making Alexa smarter for years, yet the update has faced repeated delays.

Moreover, a beta version of the AI assistant was supposed to roll out earlier this year but has not been released yet.

Similarly, Apple’s Siri upgrade is also rumoured to be facing delays, showing that even major tech giants struggle with AI advancements.

What to expect from Amazon’s next-gen Alexa update?

The upcoming Alexa update is expected to introduce premium features such as personalised responses, better task handling, and memory-based interactions. Amazon is reportedly considering a $10 monthly subscription fee for these advanced features while keeping the basic Alexa functions free.
