Apple is reportedly working on a new iPhone case that will likely embed Touch ID support and capacitive buttons, offering enhanced user experience and security.
Previously, rumours suggested that the upcoming iPhone 16 series might feature an Action button. However, now Apple appears to be working on a case with built-in buttons that can control the enclosed iPhone.
According to Apple’s patent, the case could transmit Touch ID signals to an iPhone button, enabling users to maintain biometric security while protecting their iPhones.

Here’s how iPhone’s new case might work
The patent suggested that the new case will address the issue of the small air gap between the case’s side buttons and the corresponding buttons that iPhone users often face.
By embedding the capacitive buttons directly into the case, users will have touch detection and gesture support while maintaining the device functionality.
The touch sensor will also allow iPhone users to interact with the device without physically pressing buttons and detect several inputs including pressure, presence, location, and fingerprints, allowing users to use their device in a more secure way.
Additionally, the patent also hints at the much-rumored reverse-wireless charging that has been anticipated since the iPhone 13.
