Apple has confirmed that it is looking into a problem affecting several Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models, as stated in an internal memo shared with Apple's Authorised Service Providers.
Touchscreen problem in Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2
The memo, obtained by Mac Rumors, states, “Some customers may report their Apple Watch Series 9 or Apple Watch Ultra 2 is experiencing false touches on their display.”
This issue may cause unexpected behaviour in certain Apple Watch models without any user input. Such behaviour may include accidental phone calls, apps opening or closing spontaneously, or difficulty in entering the device passcode.

In the internal memo, Apple described the problem as potentially resulting in the affected watches' screens "jumping erratically" or displaying other unprompted actions. Currently, there is no clear indication of the extent of the issue or whether it is due to a hardware defect or a software glitch.
While recommending that users ensure their Apple Watch is running the latest watchOS version, Apple implies that a software update could potentially resolve the issue. However, the company has not provided a timeline for a solution or commented on whether faulty hardware might be the problem.
For the time being, Apple has reportedly advised technicians at Authorised Service Providers not to repair affected devices while the investigation is ongoing.
As a temporary solution for users encountering the issue, Apple suggests performing a forced restart of their Apple Watch. This can be done by simultaneously pressing and holding the Digital Crown and side button for at least 10 seconds, or until the Apple logo appears. Since Apple is aware of this issue, an update to address it may be released soon.
