Apple has officially introduced iOS 26, featuring a new design scheme and a new built-in app called Preview, which allows iPhone users to access simple PDF and image editing capabilities without having to rely on third-party software.
Notably, iOS 26 brings several design tweaks, the addition of Preview stands out as one of the most helpful features. Preview debuted on macOS and is now making its first appearance on iPhone, letting users view, edit, sign, and scan documents all in one app.
After you upgrade your device to iOS 26, the app appears on your device automatically. Users may start a new document, scan pages with the camera, or open existing files from the built-in Files app.
Additionally, the interface will be familiar to someone who has used the editing tool for others' screenshots on previous iOS versions, straightforward, quickly laid out, and intuitive.
The app allows for basic photo edits (cropping, writing, drawing, and removing backgrounds) with a few taps. For PDF files, you can add text boxes, insert a signature, annotate the page, rotate and resize the document, and even search for text.
Moreover, the scan feature creates a clean, easily shareable copy of the original document by simply pointing the camera at the document, making it easy to digitise what are otherwise physical documents.
Apple’s Preview app simplifies daily tasks like filling out forms or signing PDFs, making iOS 26 more productive than ever.
