Apple’s Vision Pro is one of the most powerful mixed reality headsets available, but it comes with a high price tag and bulky design. Reportedly, the company is planning a lighter and less expensive Vision Pro that might suit a wider variety of customers.

According to Bloomberg, the Apple Vision Pro came out with high-end features and a high-end build, but to many users, it was too heavy and costly. Apple is attempting to fix both of those issues with a new version that will be less expensive and easier to wear.

In addition to the budget model, Apple is also working on a second generation of the Vision Pro. The new headset will be cabled and aimed at being paired with a Mac. The objective is to cut down latency, particularly for activities that need swift, real-time response, such as flight simulators or surgery planning.

Unlike previous prototypes that had transparent lenses, this one will continue to employ pass-through cameras such as the existing Vision Pro.

Cheaper, lighter Apple headset still in works

Apple hasn’t dropped the idea of making a cheaper Vision Pro. Rumours suggest that the new model weighs nearly 1.5 pounds, which puts pressure on the neck and head.

furthermore, the new affordable Vision Pro will attempt to remedy this by shaving weight and expense, allowing Apple to compete with products such as the Meta Quest 3, which is seven times less expensive.
