A big change is coming to the MacBook Pro in 2026. Strong rumours suggest that Apple is making a big commitment to revamping its high-end laptop for the first time in five years.

The updated MacBook Pro will include a thinner footprint, upgraded display, and upgraded chip, making it one of the biggest updates to the MacBook line in a long time.

The biggest highlight of the new model is the OLED display, which will be the first on any MacBook. After successfully introducing OLED in the iPad Pro in 2024, it seems like it is inevitable for Apple to adopt the same OLED display on its MacBook Pros.

OLED screens provide superior contrast, greater vibrance and brightness of colours, and greater energy efficiency, representing a HUGE leap from the current mini-LED screens as well.

It is reported that Apple will use tandem OLED technology in the MacBook Pro, which will be a higher-end version than what will be expected in the MacBook Air.

It may eliminate the current notch altogether – we may see a straighter cutout camera, possibly similar to what the iPhone does with Dynamic Island.

The second key upgrade is the thinner and lighter MacBook Pro. According to Bloomberg, Apple was going to release the new MacBook Pro in 2025, but a display delay pushed them to 2026.

The new design should be more conducive to travel, particularly for those using the 16-inch model who currently feel the existing model is too heavy.

Furthermore, Apple will feature the powerful M6 chip in this model, built on TSMC’s 2nm process. The M6 series will offer greater speed and better battery life.
