Apple has launched the latest Mac Studio, featuring the latest M4 Max and M3 Ultra chipsets. These chipsets were specially designed for Apple Intelligence and can run large language models (LLMs) with up to 600 billion parameters. The updated workstation also includes Thunderbolt 5 ports for enhanced connectivity.
The Cupertino-based tech giant claimed that the M4 Max chip supports a 16-core CPU and a 40-core GPU, with up to 128GB of unified memory and 8TB of SSD storage configuration. The M3 Ultra chip supports a 32-core CPU, an 80-core GPU, up to 512GB of unified memory, and a 16TB SSD storage variant.
With neural engines, cutting-edge ray tracing, hardware-accelerated mesh shading, and ProRes accelerators, both versions deliver robust AI, content creation, and improved gaming performance.
The M4 Max model is claimed to offer 3.5 times faster than its M1 Max predecessor, while the M3 Ultra is said to offer 2.6 times more than the M1 Ultra.
For connectivity, the Mac Studio includes Thunderbolt 5 ports, offering improved speed of up to 120 Gb/s, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, 10 Gb Ethernet, USB-A, HDMI, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Moreover, it supports approximately eight Pro Display XDRs at full 6K resolution.
The latest Mac Studio delivers significant upgrades, ensuring improved overall performance and connectivity, making it a substantial choice for professionals and artificial intelligence (AI)-centric workflows.
