Apple revives AR glasses project, but when is its launch?

Augmented Reality (AR) glasses, a technology that has been gaining traction in recent years, have received several updates since its launch. While the companies like Meta, XReal, and Rokid have already entered the tech market by announcing several new updates to their smart glasses, yet Apple has been noticeably absent - until now.

Reportedly, the rumours surfacing around state that Apple has renewed its efforts to introduce its own AR glasses in the market. These "lightweight" glasses are designed to be worn all day long, providing users with seamless blend of digital and physical experiences.

Apple is not the first to launch smart glasses. For instance, Meta's Ray-Ban Meta glasses became the centre of attention in the tech market, as they offer the user several innovative features including a camera, speakers, and live-streaming capabilities, whereas on the other hand XReal and Rokid's glasses launched by Qualcomm company, focuses more on multimedia playback and gaming.

These entrants launched earlier have no doubt set the stage for the Cupertino company to introduce its own AR glasses in the tech industry.

Apple renewing its efforts to revive its AR glasses may not be ready to primetime for several years, but it is expected to launch this innovation around 2027. As tech market continues to evolve with new announcements, we can expect more innovative applications of AR glasses including gaming, entertainment, education and healthcare.
