Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 17 “Air,” which is expected to be the company’s thinnest iPhone yet.
The device is rumoured to set the stage for a new era of ultra-slim smartphones, potentially removing the charging port entirely.
Major iOS and macOS redesigns in works
Alongside the iPhone 17 Air, Apple is also gearing up for some of the most innovative redesigns in its software history. Reports suggest that both iOS and macOS will receive major visual and functional updates, possibly integrating more AI-driven features.
The company is under increasing pressure to enhance its AI capabilities, with internal discussions expected to take centre stage at Apple’s “Top 100” offsite meeting this week.
However, Apple has been facing challenges in the AI space, with competitors like Google and OpenAI advancing rapidly. Reports suggest that Apple is expected to ramp up efforts to integrate AI across its ecosystem, addressing growing concerns over its competitive edge.
Apple's new external displays in development
Beyond smartphones and software, Apple is also working on two new external displays. One, codenamed J427, is said to be the second-generation Studio Display, expected to arrive either by the end of this year or early next year.
Another display, known as J527, has also surfaced, though details remain unclear. Speculation suggests it could be a successor to the high-end Pro Display XDR or an entirely new offering with advanced specs.
