Samsung is already preparing for its next flagship release, the Galaxy S26 series, expected to launch in early 2026.
While details are still under wraps, two key models, the Galaxy S26 Edge and Galaxy S26 Ultra, have just been spotted in the global IMEI database, confirming that development is well underway.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge and Ultra rumoured specifications
The listings seem to indicate that Samsung is sticking with the "Edge" branding, first introduced with the S25 Edge. The slim profile, at 5.85 mm thick, never garnered much attention due to its small battery capacity.
However, it appears that Samsung is willing to give it another try. Based on IMEI data, the S26 Edge will have appreciably better battery life and performance, likely thanks to Galaxy's next-gen Exynos 2600 (2nm) chipset.
The model numbers in the GSMA database include, for the S26 Edge, SM-S947U, and for the S26 Ultra, SM-S948U and SM-S948N, with U likely being for the US and N being this variant for Korea. This early stage of certification would imply that the other two models, the base Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus, will also be popping up soon.
Reportedly, the S26 Ultra is rumoured to pack the best specs and premium design, and the Edge is back, indicating Samsung still believes in thin flagship form factors, and hopefully with better optimisation now.
Furthermore, Samsung is also expected to power the Galaxy S26 series with either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 successor (Elite 2 version) or its own Exynos 2600 chip, depending on the region in the world.
