Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has officially issued a new statement regarding FBR tax-free mobile registration for overseas Pakistanis, providing uninterrupted connectivity.

PTA revealed on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, that overseas Pakistanis can avail the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) tax-free mobile registration facility for 120 days per visit under the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) policy.

Notably, Pakistan's telecom regulator is facilitating this service through a free, automated Temporary Mobile Registration System, available via the DIRBS portal: https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/drs.

It is worth noting that the registration process is fully digital and applicants will be required to provide their passport number, date of arrival, intended date of departure, mobile SIM information (issued in their name), and the IMEI(s) of their device(s).

How to do FBR tax-free mobile registration

  • Visit the PTA's Device Registration System portal.
  • Follow the online registration procedure.
  • Provide the required information, including your passport details, arrival/departure dates, and mobile SIM/IMEI information.
  • The system will verify your arrival date using FIA data.
  • Upon successful verification, your device(s) will be registered for 120 days.

With this move, PTA and FBR aim to ensure seamless mobile connectivity during short stays in Pakistan and reflect PTA’s commitment to supporting digital access for all such visitors.
