Apple was previously expected to launch the two foldable devices in 2026, which is now reportedly to be delayed until 2027 and possibly into 2028, GSMArena claimed.

According to a reliable tipster Ming-Chi Kuo, the Cupertino-based tech giant was obliged to prepare its first foldable in 2026, which has now been delayed to the last quarter of 2027 or the beginning of 2028.

Additionally, the tech giant is allegedly gearing up to launch a hybrid folding 20.5-inch Macbook/iPad, contradicting the rumours of the first foldable to be a phone. As for the iPhone Flip, the company is producing a clamshell-style handset.

Kuo further revealed the reason behind this delay of these foldables and said that it might be because of "technical challenges" in the devices. He further added the hybrid folding Macbook is expected to feature an 18.8-inch display instead of the previously rumoured 20.5-inch.

Moreover, the reports related to the pushback of the upcoming Apple foldable are not surfacing for the first time. There have been several rumours about the iPhone Flip under multiple monikers since 2016, which has constantly experienced delays every year.

The actual reason behind the delay is still under wrap, as users are highly anticipating the device, as they are locked into a vicious circle of rumours.
