While Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone, known as the iPhone Fold, has already stirred immense frenzy among iPhone freaks, a fresh leak has teased new insights into a key hardware component, stating that the iPhone Fold would feature the largest battery ever seen in an iPhone.
The surprising aspect is that the iPhone Fold is rumoured to have a battery larger than that of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which currently houses a 4,823mAh battery.
Foldable iPhone's battery, other specs
The size of the battery under the foldable iPhone's hood would be larger than the iPhone 17 Pro Max's eSIM-only version, which has a slightly larger 5,088mAh battery.
Reports indicate that Apple is testing the foldable with a battery capacity between 5,400mAh and 5,800mAh.
Another intriguing property is that early prototypes of the iPhone Air were initially equipped with a 3,000mAh battery before Apple upgraded to a larger unit for the final version. A similar enhancement is also expected for the iPhone Fold, eventually resulting in a battery close to 6,000mAh.
The iPhone Fold is tipped to feature a 7.58-inch inner display and a 5.38-inch outer display.
With two screens to power, Apple may require a significantly larger battery to meet the foldable's increased energy demands, making the choice of battery capacity crucial for performance and usability.
