Nothing has finally confirmed when its long-awaited Nothing OS 4.0 update will roll out, bringing Android 16 and a fresh wave of AI-powered features to users around the world. The stable update arrives this week, ending months of waiting for Nothing phone owners.
The company shared the news through a post on the Nothing Community site, stating that the official announcement and public rollout will begin on Friday, November 21. “The wait is nearly over,” the company wrote while thanking beta testers for their feedback over the past few weeks.
Nothing recently ran an open beta for Nothing OS 4.0 in late October, giving early users access to Android 16 features before the final release.
The company calls its Android 16-based platform Flow and suggests it will be a smoother, more fluid user experience. However, the brand has not confirmed which models will receive the update first.
The open beta-supported list is a good barometer of what has been offered. Models like the Nothing Phone 2, Phone 3, Phone 2a, 2a Plus, Phone 3a and 3a Pro were the first beneficiaries of the beta version and will receive Nothing OS 4.0 before any other devices.
It's also likely to include newer models, such as the Nothing Phone 3a Lite. Devices that are under CMF, the sub-brand from Nothing, should get it according to their promised OS upgrades:
Nothing OS 4.0 brings several new features, including Extra Dark Mode, a 2×2 quick settings tile, Pop-Up View for floating windows, new lock screen clocks, and support for Essential Apps. The update also includes the new “Stretch” camera feature for the Nothing Phone 2 series, along with the controversial Lock Glimpse feature, disabled by default on some models.
