Call of Duty, a popular first-person shooter game, has grown in size and complexity over the years. With various modes like Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone, the game's file size has become a concern for players.
Activision, the game's developer, is addressing this issue by introducing custom download options, allowing players to install only the parts of the game they want.
Starting with the launch of Black Ops 6 on October 25, 2024, players will be able to download specific components of the game, such as Multiplayer or Zombies, separately. This shall reduce the overall file size and give players more control over their downloads.
The updates will be rolled out in phases, with the first big update arriving on August 21. This update will pave the way for the separation of Call of Duty: Warzone from the mainline games, giving players more flexibility in their downloads.

The new download options shall significantly reduce the file size of Call of Duty games. For example, Black Ops 6 will be a smaller download than Modern Warfare III at launch.
Activision is also working on expanding streaming technology to further reduce file sizes. This means that players can enjoy the game without sacrificing too much storage space on their devices.
Subsequent updates will arrive on August 30, in mid-October, on October 25 when Black Ops 6 launches, and alongside that game's Season 1 update.
These updates will continue to refine the download process, making it more efficient and user-friendly.
