OpenAI revealed that ChatGPT is now able to access the contents of your apps on macOS. The new feature is developed to make it simpler to receive the artificial intelligence (AI's) input on what you're doing in another app without having to take a screenshot or copy and paste the text.

Earlier in May, OpenAI unveiled the ChatGPT desktop app for macOS and has been progressively enhancing it since, including most recently bringing Advanced Voice to the desktop for the first time.

Notably, this new feature will initially only work with developers’ apps, like Apple's own developer environment Xcode and the Microsoft-backed Visual Studio Code. Moreover, it will have access to the Terminal, so all users could soon become power users.

Meanwhile, app insight features will only be available for ChatGPT desktop on the Mac. Premium users will be able to get access although it is said to take a few weeks to come to enterprise and education users.

This new feature will bring ChatGPT closer to offering some of the same functionality developers, and newcomers to programming, are enjoying from Cursor and similar apps. On the other hand, ChatGPT is expected to provide live information while you're in a Zoom meeting, or even give you tips in the future.
