Chinese automaker Chery is planning to start the local assembly of vehicles in Pakistan by January 2026, which is a significant step for the growing automotive industry in Pakistan. It will be executed under Chery Master Pakistan, a joint venture between Chery Automobile Ltd. and Master Auto Engineering.

Reportedly, the company will invest $150 million to support the establishment of a fully equipped manufacturing plant at the National Industrial Park, Port Qasim, Karachi.

The 60-acre factory will create a multitude of jobs, particularly in training workers in New Energy Vehicle (NEV) technologies, demonstrating another step toward bringing high-tech hybrid vehicles to Pakistan.

Chery Master is planning to introduce four models from their flagship models, namely the Tiggo Cross, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Tiggo 9, that will be outfitted with Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology.

Additionally, in 2026, the company is hoping to enhance its distribution network across Pakistan by the inauguration of 10 dealerships across seven cities.

During the launch event, Master Auto Engineering CEO Samir Malik shared that the partnership with Chery represents an exciting new chapter for local auto manufacturers in Pakistan.

“We are proud to work with China’s leading auto exporter and bring Chery’s Super Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle technology to Pakistani consumers,” he said.

Malik added that this investment will not only boost car production but also enhance local expertise and job creation. “Through this project, we will train over 2,000 workers in advanced NEV technologies,” he noted.
