Bungie has released a new update (v9.0.0.5) for Destiny 2, providing notable fixes and new content after the less than ideal launch of its most recent expansion, The Edge of Fate.
The patch contains outstanding bugs, balance changes, and gameplay problems. Additionally, the patch offers players the highly anticipated Solstice 2025 event.
Solstice 2025 kicks off this week and replaces the outdated Bonfire Bash event with daily solar-based modifiers across core playlists. Players are able to earn themed armour, chase rewards, and complete rotating challenges until the event ends on August 19.
Importantly, Solstice Armour crafting is back at the Solstice Forge, which means that the summer grind that many Guardians enjoy is back.
In addition to the seasonal event, Bungie also addressed major gameplay bugs in Destiny 2. The Crucible sprinting glitch, which prompted sprinting to stop mid-match, has been tentatively fixed, but Bungie has noted that it still may happen in some situations.
The updates target significant issues in raids, dungeons, and the Edge of Fate campaign. All combat encounters in legacy raids and dungeons will also be 10 power levels lower, easing the difficulty.
In addition to the Destiny 2 Edge of Fate patch, Bungie also nerfed the Grappler scoring penalty, re-enabled Encore, and adjusted the modifiers and loot rewards for both Portal and Fireteam Ops.
On top of that, a long list of gear fixes, restoring broken weapon perks, exotic armour functionality, and even visibility date issues with some ornaments.
Another headline from today's patch includes Bungie's ban wave, as reported when multiple fireteams were found cheating during the World First Raid Race.
Furthermore, the update provides improvements to vendors, which included improved messaging around the weekly rewards and armour focusing. The players who lost access to Unstable Cores during launch week can now claim 200 Cores from Master Rahool as compensation.
