Dewan Farooque Motors Limited ((DFML) is set to commence local assembly of Chinese electric trucks in Pakistan.
The prominent automobile manufacturer in Pakistan plans to introduce these eco-friendly trucks, branded as “Kama,” in the local market by the first quarter of 2025.
According to the DFML Director of Projects Kashif Riaz, the electric truck “Kama” is manufactured on the robust framework of the diesel-powered Shehzore model.
He also revealed that for the test trial, completely built units (CBUs) have already arrived in Pakistan for further proceeding to locally assemble the trucks before the official launch.
Moreover, to encourage and accelerate local EV production, Riaz also called for stronger government support, such as additional duty exemptions.

The Kama truck is engineered to provide a cost-efficient and eco-friendly solution.
Boasting a range of 300 kilometres and rapid charging capabilities, the truck addresses the longstanding issue of high fuel consumption in commercial trucks, substantially reducing operational expenses and promoting sustainability.
It should be noted that Pakistan's National Electric Vehicles Policy (NEVP), introduced in 2019, also outlines an ambitious roadmap for widespread electric vehicle (EV) adoption.
The policy targets achieving 30% EV penetration in passenger and heavy-duty truck sales by 2030, with an even higher goal of 90% by 2040.
The launch of the Kama electric truck aligns with these objectives, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan's transition towards environment-friendly transportation.
