In an unfavourable turn of events, SpaceX's huge Starship rocket exploded only minutes after it took off from Texas, US.
The Elon Musk-owned aerospace company endured the devastating event for the second time this year, prompting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to cease air traffic in parts of Florida.
Having initiated an investigation into the incident shortly after the rocket launch failure, the FAA issued ground stopovers at the Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach and Orlando airports as a safety measure in the wake of “space launch debris.”
The rocket was part of the Elon Musk-owned aerospace giant's Mars mission, according to Dawn. The explosion was captured by various citizens in the respective US state, leading to a flurry of footage shared on social media platforms disclosing the raining debris of the Starship spacecraft.
The scene was also live-streamed through SpaceX's live coverage of the Mars mission.
Regarding the rootcause behind the malfunction of the eighth Starship test, the visuals available on the internet depict several engines shutting down.
The company said it lost contact with the 403-foot (123-meter) rocket after it lifted off at about 6:30pm ET (2330 GMT) from SpaceX’s Chica, Texas, rocket facility.
