There's an ever-increasing abundance of top-tier gaming consoles in the gaming sphere, yet there seems to be some room for improvement, as in any other industry, and this is likely the void the PlayStation 6 is coming to address.

While excitement was already building around the upgraded generation of PS5, a fresh rumour has intensified this interest by disclosing potential specifications of the upcoming PS6.

As per the leak cited by Digital Trends, the latest model of the widely popular PS console will take a massive leap in power compared to the PS5.

Insights into the leak revealed that the PS6 may feature an AMD “Orion” APU with up to 10 Zen 6 cores, coupled with a GPU boasting 52-54 compute units (CUs) from the RDNA 5 architecture.

This top-notch setup is expected to deliver an impressive 34-40 teraflops of performance, promising 2.5 to 3 times faster rasterisation and six to 12 times better ray tracing capabilities than the current PS5.

When will PS6 launch?

According to industry experts, the PS6 might launch sometime in the fall of 2027, meaning this will allow developers to prepare for a new era of gaming.

The purported specifications of the PS6 indicate that it could challenge high-end graphics cards like the RTX 5090.
