As electric vehicles are rapidly gaining ground in various parts of Pakistan, both experts and ordinary echo freaks are advocating for echo-friendly mobility.

Experts and climate activists on Saturday urged the government of Pakistan to access climate financing and dislodge fossil fuels to set aside woes brought about by climate change.

These remarks were made at "The Inaugural Pakistan Electric Vehicle (EV) Conference, New Energy Vehicles Policy 2025" themed "Accelerating the Transition to a Sustainable Future," organised by the Climate Action Centre (CAC).

Moreover, the government was also asked to make electric motorbikes affordable and devise a new energy vehicle (NEV) policy to facilitate customers, parts vendors and assemblers.

The subject matter outlines significant steps to normalise sustainable transportation in Pakistan.

The experts also emphasised the need to minimise the usage of fossil fuel in vehicular traffic, a step they believed urgent to address climate issues.

"Civil society is pivotal in addressing climate change. Without its engagement, there is no meaningful action," said Senator Sherry Rehman, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Climate Change and the chief guest at the event.

She also highlighted how crucial role civil society plays in fighting climate change.
