In a disheartening development for Xiaomi users, Google has announced to drop Chrome browser support for several Xiaomi devices.

All Xiaomi smartphones operating on Android 8.0 Oreo and Android 9.0 Pie will receive Chrome version 139 on August 5, 2025, meaning a considerable portion of Xiaomi mobile phones won't make the cut for that update.

Several popular models from the Mi and Redmi series, released between 2016 and 2018, are also among the wide array of Xiaomi smartphones slated to be deprived of the Chrome browser.

Approximately 10% of Xiaomi devices worldwide are still using these versions, indicating that millions of users will be impacted globally.

Ellen T, Chrome support manager, announced on the Chrome support forums that Chrome 138 will be the final version compatible with Android 8.0 and 9.0.

After the given date, affected Xiaomi devices will no longer receive Google Chrome updates from the Play Store.

While Chrome 138 will remain functional, users will miss out on imperative security patches, new features, and performance enhancements brought about by fresh updates.
