Shortly following the unconventional launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung rejoined the limelight with speculations surrounding the tech giant's plans to replace the Plus variant from its impending Galaxy S26 lineup in preference to the Galaxy S26 Edge model.

If the change takes on reality, the Galaxy S26 series might feature three models, including the Galaxy S26, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra.

Although not so surprising, the absence of the Galaxy S26+ variant would mark a departure from Samsung’s longstanding three-tier flagship strategy.

Rumours suggesting this replacement strategy attribute its likelihood to the overwhelming sales of the recently debuted Galaxy S25 Edge.

Citing internal projections, ProPakistani reported that Samsung will have sold 37.7 million Galaxy S25 units by the end of 2025, out of which 17.4 million will be S25 Ultra models and 13.6 million standard S25. The S25+ appears to be the least popular Galaxy S25 variant, with an estimated sales of 6.7 million units.

Under the upcoming S26 lineup, chances are fair that the S26 Edge will take over the S26 Plus model. The major reason behind its incredible sales pace is its distinctive hold of a slimmer and sleeker form factor, not to mention the considerably enhanced array of features.

Few of the leaks have also pointed to the use of silicon-carbon (Si/C) battery technology under the hood of the Galaxy S26 Edge in a bid to offset power capacity in slimmer devices.
