The German Consulate General in Karachi has introduced a new waiting list system for Schengen and long-term visa appointments. Due to high demand, applicants can no longer book appointments directly. Instead, they must first register their names on a waiting list.
The consulate will then assign appointments in order of registration, based on availability.
New visa appointment system
This change will likely increase visa processing time, affecting those who need urgent travel approvals. However, the consulate says the new system is designed to ensure a fair and efficient distribution of appointments.
To avoid delays, applicants must carefully enter all required details when registering. Incorrect or incomplete information may result in further waiting time.
The German consulate in Karachi has also warned applicants not to use agents for registration. The waiting list system is free of charge, and there is no need to pay third parties for assistance.
Additionally, this new policy does not apply to Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) applicants, who can still book appointments directly.
The announcement, made on March 25, 2025, reflects the consulate’s efforts to streamline the visa application process. As demand for Schengen visas continues to grow, applicants should plan their travel well in advance and register early to secure a slot.
