Samsung Galaxy phone users will soon get an additional layer of security with Google's Identity Check feature.

The feature was introduced with Android 15 and is a software-based security guard, protecting user data in case the device is stolen.

Currently, the feature is exclusively available to the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S25 series and the one preceding it, the Galaxy S24 lineup

According to Google’s official blog post, the Identity Check feature will be available on Samsung Galaxy phones and Pixel smartphones running on Android 15 with One UI 7; however, insights into the rollout of the feature are tentative and scarce.

The feature allows users to set trusted locations to minimise the need for frequent authentication. Additionally, even if a device PIN is compromised, the feature is expected to protect against unauthorised access.

While the One UI 7 update is expected to bring Identity Check to a wider range of Samsung Galaxy phones, it is uncertain which specific models will receive the feature.

The One UI 7’s stable version will be released to all Galaxy S series smartphones by the end of the first quarter of 2025. This indicates that One UI 7 will potentially make it to Galaxy S lineups by the end of March.

In addition to the Identity Check feature, the One UI 7 update might introduce exciting camera feature upgrades to Samsung phones.
