Google on Wednesday announced its November software update for Pixel phones, named Pixel Drop, which brings new capabilities to existing devices.
Alphabet-owned tech giant said that the latest update for Pixel phones comes with new features, including notification summaries, a power-saving mode for the Maps app, prompt-based edits for Photos, and Gemini Naon-powered photo edits in Messages.
Google is catching up with its own notification summaries for longer chats and conversations on Pixel 9 and later devices. The Maps app has received a new low-power mode that will darken the screen and only show important information, including the navigation route and details of the next turn.
The low-power mode feature is available to Pixel 10 series users, as you can now save up to four hours of battery life.
The company has also added a way to indicate when a message is potentially a scam by including a 'Likely a scam' button in the notification for the message. This update is dependent on Google's existing feature that analyses a message's content and identifies spam or scam.
The Pixels users have also received a new AI-powered editing feature for Google Photos, as you can tap on 'Help me edit' and ask the Photos app to 'Remove Riley's sunglasses, open my eyes, make Engel smile and open her eyes'. The feature will utilise Google Photos' face groups feature to identify people and apply edits.
It should be noted that the November update is available in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom (UK), Ireland, and Japan, with further planning to expand into the other regions.
