Google Play Store, the go-to destination for Android apps and games, may soon make app discovery easier with a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature. Google is testing an "Ask a question" tool that would allow users to ask questions directly on app listings.

This AI-powered tool could help users get quick answers about apps, making it easier to find the right app for specific needs.

How it works

Currently, Google Play Store has got AI-generated FAQs that address common questions on app listing pages, but these pre-generated answers are limited.

With the new "Ask a question" feature, users could ask their specific questions about apps or games they’re interested in.

This would likely help people who want more details about app functionality, features, or user experiences but can’t find the answers in the current app descriptions.

The feature was spotted in the Google Play Store’s version 43.3.32-31 APK teardown. While Google hasn’t made an official announcement, code strings suggest that users will see a button or prompt labelled “Ask a question” on the app listing page.

By clicking it, users would be able to type in their questions and receive AI-generated responses tailored to the app they’re viewing. This would be a second AI-powered feature in the Play Store, following the launch of AI-generated FAQs earlier this year.

Though this Google "Ask a question" feature isn’t live yet, it holds potential for both users and developers. It could simplify the app search process and enhance the app listing experience by providing quick answers without leaving the page.
