While a considerable portion of Google Wallet's user base has been relying on its PayPal compatibility, Google Wallet is set to discontinue PayPal support for accounts in the United States from next week.

In an update to its support documentation, Google indicated that linked PayPal accounts will be automatically removed from Google Wallet on this date.

Google Wallet has been preventing new PayPal links since April 11, but accounts already linked to the service before this date have functioned as usual, according to Android Police.

However, users should note that any recurring payments scheduled to charge their PayPal accounts using Google Wallet will require a new payment method after the deadline, June 13.

The surprising aspect of the development is that users can still add PayPal-branded debit cards to Google Wallet, which will continue to operate normally.

Alongside the removal of PayPal accounts linked to Google Wallet, transaction history for payments made through PayPal will no longer be accessible in Google Wallet after the removal.

Bear in mind that the support drop is exclusively for users in the US, and users in Germany will keep accessing to linked PayPal accounts.
