Google Recorder app to be available on Chromebooks
According to reports, the tech giant will roll out the Recorder app to Chromebooks with the upcoming ChromeOS 130 update. Earlier, with ChromeOS 129, the tech giant introduced a new shortcut, the Quick Insert key to Chromebooks.
While Google is also offering some AI features exclusively to ChromePlus devices, such as offline transcriptions, the Recorder app will be available to all Chromebooks.
The Recorder app will be able to capture internal and external audio to generate transcripts. It will offer a “Material You” design with an option to adjust the playback speed between 0.25x and 2x and users can also resize the app.
Notably, another feature named “speaker identification” will be available on all Chromebooks. However, it will be limited to English US language only and it is unclear whether Google has plans to add more languages in the future.
