As a step towards digitalisation, Pakistan’s Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training has placed an order for 8,000 Chromebooks in Islamabad.

The Chromebooks will be distributed in public educational institutions across the federal capital.

This initiative is a part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of education by introducing digital learning tools in educational institutions in today’s digital age.

It's worth mentioning that the order follows an online tender process managed by the National Book Foundation.

A total of ten companies submitted financial bids; however, after reviewing the bids, the contract was awarded to the company that submitted the lowest financial offer.

As per committee member Talat Saeed, the Chromebooks are expected to be delivered within the next two months, with properly managed quality control measures to ensure the products meet the required standards.

The initiative will help in the digital transformation of public education in the country, helping students access modern learning resources and enhancing their overall learning experience.

In a separate development that surfaced earlier, the Federal Directorate of Education in Islamabad made changes to the operating hours of schools in the capital city for the winter season.
