According to updated data issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the PTA tax for the iPhone 16 is Rs128,766 when registered using a passport.
Now coming to buying and registering a new iPhone 16 in Pakistan with your Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), then the applied tax is Rs154,293.
Buyers must note that iPhone 16 taxes in Pakistan must be paid before you can access the country's local mobile networks on your device.
The tax amount currently being charged is believed to be way higher than the tax imposed on the previous iPhone 15 models.
Although these taxes are most likely to favour mobile phone retailers and bulk importers, they remain one of the reasons behind the phone's low reception across Pakistan.
Given iPhone 16's low sales, industry experts urged the government to offer relief to individuals willing to buy the latest iPhone 16 but are being flagged by significantly high duties on imports.
